Here is what the site states: The inlet does appear bigger than stock.

http://www.voltageproductsonline.com/hoodscoops.html

Voltage Products Hood Scoops are carefully designed to maximize
the flow of cool air over the intercooler by creating a 35% larger
inlet area over the stock scoop
.When trying to acheive more HP
keeping the intake charge cool is the first order of business.
Aesthetically more aggressive styling and precise fitment, this
hood scoop will enhance the look of your Mini and look as though
it was a factory option. Hand made from composite materials,
hood scoops come primered and ready for paint with all necessary
mounting hardware.

it would be nice to see some intake air temp readings before and after.

Thanks!

Scoop looks very similar to the M7 made Vortex 1 scoop that I recently installed on my 03MSC. Sorry I've not yet photographed it on my MINI by courtesy of the M7 site

I dont think it does any better than the stock one. The air diverters that bolt to the top of the innercooler are also a hit and miss. I have the Alta version and I really think the stock one as long as you have it sealed properly is just as good. Just my opinion. :noidea:
Others can only wish they bought a Mini

Granted the cowl scoops look cool, they're actually blocking air. a simple spin around the block with a piece of yarn taped to the hood will tell you that the area in front of the windshield is a negative pressure zone, thats why you see the reverse scooped intakes on the muscle cars. Yet no one makes a functionally correct one. I just finished a one off cowl scoop as well as a cowl duct which feeds the air box. when I get some time off work I'm gonna vacuum mold a small run of them. PM me if interested.
