How does the front number plate attach on an r56?

Would anyone in the UK mind telling me please how the front number plate attaches to the bumper of an R56?

My wife wants a UK style plate on the front of her car (we're in the USA), but I can't tell from any of the photos I've found if there's some kind of bracket or if they are just drilled & screwed into the bumper cover.

I suppose the alternative would be a self-adhesive one which I've seen offered on many of the UK number plate suppliers websites, any idea if they are any good?

hello, i live in the uk,nr oxford not far from the mini factory, our plates are fixed by either, plastic self tapper screws, or double sidetape,but we hate our front plates a would love not to have them, some guys have vinyl ones made and stick them on.does the usa bumper have a square section for your plates or is it smooth, if i was you i would stick it on and not to drill holes in it , hope this helps,phil

Hey Phil, that was my husbands post that you replied to. He too is from the UK, from Hampshire and has been here in the states now for almost 5 years. In the end he mounted my number plate with double sided tape and it has held up super well. For those that don't want to drill their front bumper, I would highly recommend this mounting process.

And, Hicksy, the US cars come with an insert that bolts into the long opening for the euro plate. It has a place to put the US plate. you might be able to find photos. I took mine off and can probably get a pic of it soon.
