Local classic car shows.

Postby xanthus » Fri Oct 13, 2006 1:13 pm

I am interested in putting a sticky with all the information about classic car shows, as well as those allowing newer cars.

For the record, any MINI members showing an interest in a solid classic show, I recommend organizing a joint arrival early where you can nab a section of the public parking to park together in.

While there at a good many of these shows, we can all go get a bite to eat and walk the show and see some really cool cars.

Please post below the car shows that you know of as well as all needed information for them.

Some car shows DO welcome newer cars, if the one you are posting about does, please note that so we can get a MINI attendance as well.

Please keep discussion to another thread so this one will be easier to get the information from. Posts that are not simply scheduling and information about a car show may be deleted.

Shouldn't you be working on a car in your spare time instead of showing/viewing cars?

You got me on the brakes(laziness and lack of time), but the knocking is most likely due to the low octane levels in the benzina over here. I looked into it, albeit briefly, and from what I gather other many classic car enthusiasts have a similar complaint. I'll try an additive first, however, the timing may be slightly advanced. :?:

APRIL 18 2009 Davis Islands, Tampa, Fl

Postby mgrick » Fri Jan 16, 2009 12:32 pm

The Suncoast Classic MG Club and Nature Coast English Car Club invite you to attend what we hope to be the largest British Car Show in the South. It will be held in conjunction with the Davis Islands - Islands Festivalâ„¢ which annually draws thousands of people throughout the Tampa Bay area. Bring your classic British Car for a day of fun and sun near downtown Tampa.

Islands Fest™ is held at the waterfront Seaplane Basin Park, right next to the Peter O. Knight airport, on Saturday, April 18 from 10 AM – 5 PM. This event is open to the public and will feature plenty of exhibitions, events, and fun! Visitors in previous years have found a pram sailing exhibition by the Davis Islands Youth Sailing Group, inflatable bounce houses and slides for children, rock climbing wall, a magic show, and a pet parade and contest. Guests will also get an up-close look at airplanes, helicopters, RVs and a fire engine. If the weather permits, airplane rides will also be available. Islands Fest™ plans lots of music, too.

In addition to all of that, the event will feature the Islands Festâ„¢ Art Show. With over 20 participating artists, everyone is sure to find entertaining and interesting displays from creative minds.

Previous sponsors of Islands Fest™ include Tampa General Hospital, the St. Petersburg Times, SweetBay Supermarkets, the Davis Islands Community News, Atlas Aviation, Tampa International Airport – Community Airports, and many more.

The show field will open at 8 AM, Awards will be announced at 2:30PM

As the show will be held at an airport it is imperative that entrants keep the area around their car free of debris which could easily be sucked into an aircraft's engine causing major damage.
