James, thanks for the recommendation!

Had the fender on my pickup resprayed at Excel. They took the time to research the metallic color (a true trivial pursuit, as the color was a UK Ford color, and the local Ford dealerships had no clue what it was) and get everything right. From what I can tell so far, they did a great job with it. The color is damn near a perfect match, which with metallic paint is a hard job to do. The price was cheaper than other quotes I had been given, too. Based on this experience, when I have more paintwork to do, I'll use them again in a heartbeat.

Met James' dad there at the shop and he was doing some bodywork. Very detail oriented and has close to 40 years experience. His work looked quite good. Hopefully I'll never need it, but if so I'll probably call on him as well.

I just had E & L do a fluids renewal (oil, coolant, brakes) and alignment on Wednesday.
My S is at 46K miles and I also wanted everything checked out one last time by a knowledgeable mechanic before the warranty expires.
The service went well (my car is healthy ;)b ) - except the alignment took a lot longer than expected (he outsources that to another shop - I guess they had to do it twice - but it seems to track just right).
Eddie knows his way around a MINI very well and is great to work with. I intend to return in the fall for scheduled maintenance - unless the mod bug bites me before then ....Note that E & L is also an ALTA dealer.

I'll second E & L. I'm an idiot and let my brake pads get suuuuuper destroyed which of course took its toll on my rotors. I posted about it and he instant messaged me the next day and took me in the following day and worked on Daisy after he had closed. He did an amazing job, replaced both pads and rotors, and spent about 30 minutes just pushing the calliper back in when most places would have just made me pay to replace it.

Im very happy and will be back anytime my car needs him!

Took my Mini to http://www.imaginationengineering.com/ today from a recommendation by Big Norm. I have to say the guys there are top-notch. Jeff was able to quickly diagnose a few different issues and previous botched repairs and had me finished up in less than an hour with the car running beautifully. He didn't mind me craning over his shoulder and actually walked me through just about everything he was doing. Of course we sat around and gabbed for another half hour or more afterwards, but I didn't mind a bit. Great guys and highly qualified. If you have issues with your classic and need a qualified tech, Jeff at Imagination Engineering is your man.

They have a few awesome Healey and Jag restorations at various stages of completion as well. It's like walking through a candy store. :)

They have done a great job for me as well. Jeff and Richard both really know their stuff. They have been an incredible help in getting my mini sorted out mechanically. Norm did an awesome job on getting my mini in shape body=wise "orlando restoration" and imagination engineering has really helped mechanical-wise.

I just called them and they said that they could not work on my '03 because it's too new. Just a heads up.

Maitland Importers, Inc

Postby Superpete93 » Sun Feb 08, 2009 4:18 am

I just wanted to recommend a place I just used, Maitland Importers, Inc.. I got a new magnaflo exhaust but they sent the wrong year. The guys down at MII where able to fabricate everything I needed to fit it on AND stuck with the quoted price of 1 hour even though it wasn't their fault! They also solved a problem with my tire wear that has had me going through front tires every 6-8K miles! This was after taking it to the dealer and a few other shops. Ian knew what it was the second I mentioned the problem. Very honest and professional, I highly recommend these guys if your looking for a good mechanic!

Here is their contact info:

500% satisfaction

Postby Kayla » Fri Feb 20, 2009 3:51 pm

Daisy has been broken for about 2 years now and I have not had the time or $ to get her fixed. :(

Now she's almost perfect! :D

I went to Chris Mackenroth in Winter Park :gotidea: and he is fixing her up in 2 sessions for me. I got her back yesterday after session 1 and she looks amazing! I literally paid half of what my estimate was for Glimpse.

Chris is at 1888 Kentucky Ave, Winter Park. 1.407.394.5403. ;)b

I have to dig up some before pics then Ill post them along with the after. :)
