Minis of Miami BBQ 2005

Hello Mini/MINI friends, it’s time for the first annual MoM BBQ, that’s right, those mini/MINI owners just have to motor. If you have been to one of our events you know we like good food, and have good looking cars we like to show off, just think of this as an excuse to get together, meet some new friends and look at some great cars.

We will be holding this at the Tropical Park pavilion # 10 in Miami, Just west of the Palmetto expressway (826) on Bird Road. On Sunday February 6, 2005. It is a great open air location where we can park, walk among the cars, make new friends, discuss the latest mods we’ve done to our cars, sneak a peek at some of the stealth minis, play freesbe, sun, and of course, enjoy the great food.. An afternoon of fun and friendship followed by a caravan drive through Coral Gables. Drawings will be held for much coveted mini merchandise and gifts. We have invited some of the most tricked out local Minis/MINIS for your viewing pleasure.

The park opens early if anyone wants to jog or just hang out, cars should start arriving around 11:00 am, with lunch being at 1:30 +/- mini time!

What to bring?, glad you asked!! Your Mini/ MINI, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, frisbees, portable chairs and whatever else you may need.

Who to bring?? Wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, husbands, children, mom, dad, whomever fits in your mini. Sorry no pets allowed in the park.

How much will it cost me?? A modest $5.00 per person gets you entry to the event, food and a ticket for the door prizes. You can’t beat this for the value!!!!

Directions: Go North if coming from the Keys or South if coming from Broward, on State Road 826 (Palmetto Expressway) exit on Bird Road, SW 40th Street and go West about 1/8 of a mile to the park entrance on your left, at the traffic light. Turn into the park and follow the signs to Pavilion # 10, it’s just before the hill!!

Sponsors: Lauderdale MINI, MyMINI, British Cars of Miami, Minis of Miami, Works Construction

Hope you can make it, Excellent opportunity for Classic Mini owners to look at the future and for new MINI owners to see where they came from. Please go online to www.minisofmiami.com and show your interest in the cooper lounge message board, or call me to confirm/ask questions/volunteer. Peter 305-804-4051.

***ATTENTION EVERYONE ******

The event date has been moved from Sunday January 23rd, 2005 to Sunday February 6th, 2005.

Because of this, we all should be able to enjoy the absolute best pavillion location in Tropical Park.

Please make a note of the date change.

Hope to see all Mini/MINI fanatics there! 8)

My German visitors will be here then, so maybe they will want to motor down to this. We'll see.

Hi,

here are tita & MAX and cooperS from germany. We don't need a day to unwind if there is a big mini/MINI meeting nearby. So we will join you.
Here in Hamburg are -2°C and thinking of sunny weather makes us smile.

So see you soon...

Hi MAX, nice to see you here. Image

I will be making the trip down to Miami with MAX, Tita, and Sven. I was contacted by some British Mini owners who are visiting Orlando on vacation at that time. They would like to follow us down to the BBQ as well. If any other Orlando people want to motor down with us, let me know and we can work out a meeting place. The Germans and I will be staying in Miami and continuing down to Key West, so you'd be on your own going back to Orlando. Looking forward to many new Minis and MINIs.

There isn't much talk about the BBQ. Is everyone discussing it somewhere else?

I'm motoring down from Orlando with 3 Germans from Chapter North, the MINI club in Hamburg, and some Brits who happen to be visiting Orlando at that time. Still trying to find some Canadians to bring. :D

I would have liked to see more discussion but I guess people have already made up their minds whether to go or not, MyMINI and Ft lauderdale MINI and British Cars of MIami are pushing it , and MoM members have passed out 100+/- flyers to just about any MINI on the road (some twice) with 1.5 weeks to go, we expect around 50 cars and 100 people JL Audio is bringing their 1961 Mini v2 full of ICE, and a local fellow "Z" will bring his 2003 MC blue, also full of ICE, it is hard to gauge the classic mini showing but "Midnight" will be there sporting the new fresh air intake system . Lots of people who will attend do not go on either SSM or Minis of Miami boards,,Thank goodness for verbal commitments.

No problem. It sounds like it will be a great time and I'm looking forward to it. I just wondered why more people on here weren't talking about the BBQ. Thanks for the Information and I look forward to meeting you and everyone down there. :D

If there is anyone else from Orlando going and you want to follow us down, let me know.

Great bring your parents!

Any Broward Mini/MINI owners that want to get together can join us this coming thursday at the North Miami location 163rd street and 67th avenue, been having a great turnout of broward minis there and it's your chance to talk about the bbq or whatever, your friends are there and you should too!
Heck, I make the trip from NZ every month just to be there!!

Sorry to say that I don't have my mini back yet,so I doubt I will be able to make it to the Bbq. I'm not sure the first drive should be a trip to Miami.
Please take pictures.

2005 BBQ

Wrong Phil, it should be a trip to Miami, if it breaks down, we'll just have to work on it at the clinic (see miniworld, Feb 2005 page 38)
