Canoeing on the Weeki Wachee

Postby Snooter » Thu May 25, 2006 10:11 am

Would anybody be interested in a day trip with some canoeing. The Weeki Wachee river is a crystal clear spring fed river off of US 19 and State Road 50 (shares a parking lot with Bucaneer Bay park)

You rent the canoe for $38.00 (it's a 2 seater) and you go with the flow of the river (so it's easy paddling) and then they pick you up at end and drive you back to your car.

Some of the river is still untouch by man, no houses, it's really a beautiful and relaxing trip.

Then we could get some lunch at one of the restaurants down on the other end of the river.

Let me know what you think, we would need to book a month out.

I was not sure where to post this, so I put it in "Ideas for Future Events" and "Mini's of Tampa".

Seem like "Mini's of Tampa" was the better choice. So if your interested, please check out that thread

I would like to go, this is just down the road from me. Nice and local plus it will be a nice trip. That area is very nice. I would consider depending on the date of course, and also would like it to be a family event.

Wow, thought this idea died a slow death. I had posted a date for trip over on the "Tampa" thread but got no takers. If you guys are up for it. I'll call the canoe guy next week and see how far they are booked out and suggenst a date. During the summer he's often booked several weekend out at a time. And yes of course all family is welcome.

Depending on date and temperature, we might be interested. (I'm thinking fall would be better than summer)

OK, gonna try this one again. I just called the canoe place and they have several canoes available for Sunday the 17th of September.

I was thinking we could meet around 9:30 at Weeki Wachee. It's about a 3 hour trip. Then maybe some lunch at one of the restaurants by the water.

Let me know what you think.

.

I told the canoe guy I'd get back to him by end of the week to see if we had any interest. So I'll start a list and see if we can make this happen.

2 canoes - Snooter + 3

I may be interested........but I think the 16th is a Saturday. Are we talking about the 16th or 17th? I've taken my son on this trip with kayaks...it really is a blast. We saw a couple manatees and they came up real close.

We can't go this weekend, (16th or 17th) as we will just be getting back from our cabin in North Carolina earlier in the week. (Need to spend at least one weekend a month at home :) !)
