Gulf South Motoring

Postby J3kidford » Sun Oct 26, 2008 10:55 pm

I spent the day with Gulf South Motoring yesterday as they did their "Fun Run" thru the Louisiana countryside. I know many of you know or have met Collin, Dean and/or Robert from GSM. We all met at Brian Harris MINI in Baton Rouge, then headed out on some great twisty roads to go have a delicious Cajun lunch at The Cabin Restaurant, a 180 year old building that used to be the slave quarters on a plantation. From there we drove down the eastern side of the Mississippi River as it twists and turns, then crossed over to the other side and back up River Road to see some of the beautiful old plantations that lined the river there. We stopped for photo ops at both Oak Alley and Nottaway plantations. We were going to take the Plaquemine Ferry back across the river but it was out of service due to recent hurricane problems, so it was back across the river on the I-10 bridge into Baton Rouge, around LSU and back to the dealership for a Mexican buffet dinner. We were hoping for a Drive-In movie there but due to technical problems we finally decided to cancel it about 9:30pm. From there Kelly and I headed back to my other daughter's home in New Orleans.

We had a great time. We thoroughly enjoyed that "Southern Hospitality" from a great bunch of MINIacs. I think it's so cool that we can go anywhere in the country and probably find another MINI group and fit right in with them. We're all just one big extended family.
